Boccia Athlete Harry Thompson wins "Best of Northumberland Sporting Achievement 2014" :  details

Harry Thompson our local England Boccia Team member, had been shortlisted for Best of Northumberland Sporting Achievement 2014.

Along with other sporting athletes both able bodied and disabled, when the announcment was made, it was Harry that was declared the winner. Harry, 19 years of age is an inspiring and successful disabled athlete, who represents England in the sport of Boccia. He uses the Kirknewton Village Hall for training and practice sessions, as well as attending training sessions in Edinburgh, and also England Squad get togethers prior to International competitions. Harry's biggest supporter is his Mum, Michelle, who has always encouraged him to reach his personal and sporting potential. Together they are a potent and determined team.

Soon, Harry will be joining the England Boccia squad particpating in an International Boccia competition in Poznan, Poland. As a self funded athlete, Harry, family and friends have worked hard raising the required funds through organised coffee mornings, and donations through 'Just Giving'.  Our congratulations to a true Champ, and good luck in Poland.
