Community Action Northumberland :  details

Posted by Pat Edwards

New project to tackle problem of rural isolation.

Lottery funding has been won by Community Action Northumberland for a Village Agent’s pilot project to work in and around Milfield, Kirknewton, Branxton and Crookham.

The project will use volunteers, living in the parish ‘clusters’ they support.

They will help bridge the gap between isolated, excluded, vulnerable and lonely individuals and statutory and/or voluntary organisations which offer specific solutions to identified needs in those areas.

The agents will be trained to enable them to provide information and access to a range of services from home safety to benefit advice, and energy efficiency.

Agents will identify unmet needs within their community and respond by initiating and supporting new social and healthy activities.

If you are interested in becoming a village agent call 01670 517178.
